3D CONSTRUCTION GPS SPECIALIST-CHARLESTON, SC REGION

GPS Specialist is responsible for performing all aspects of GPS support through ensuring proper installation and customer training within the SITECH Mid-Atlantic trade region. The GPS Specialist is a member of the service team and a consultative resource to the sales team, where customer satisfaction is the key component of his or her success. This position combines technical knowledge with support and customer service skills. The emphasis of the work varies depending on the level of technical knowledge needed to sell products and services and respond effectively to customers.

Position to cover South Carolina and Parts of North Carolina area when requested.

The GPS Specialist will interface with contractors, surveyors, engineering firms and the DOT. Cutting edge technology in Trimble branded construction machine control is driving the need for a person with special skill set.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

*Primary technical contact for customers and sales team.

*Primary source of sales support and training for internal and external customers.

*Maintains technical expertise of Trimble products.

*Prepares and provides technical sales demonstrations and training as requested.

*Assists clients in understanding which products or services best satisfy their needs in terms of application, functionality, quality, price, and delivery

*Communicates with the sales and service teams to solve client problems.

*Proactively drives collection of information that aids in the development and improvement of SITECH and Trimble products and services offerings.

*Supports marketing activities by attending trade shows, conferences, and other marketing events.

*Monitors trends and procedures to assist in the effective management of daily operations.

EDUCATION & REQUIREMENTS:

*2+ years supporting and training others on Trimble Grade Control systems

*Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering preferred or related experience

*Extensive survey and construction experience in the Heavy Civil Construction, subdivision, general road, street, and commercial site development areas

*Experience in advanced grading

*CAD and computers- AutoCAD, Micro station, or Terramodel

*Trimble Business Center 3D Modeling experience preferred

*Must be a team player and driven by customer satisfaction and success

FIELD SERVICE TECHNICIAN-BASED IN RICHMOND, VA

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Field Technician reports directly to the Service Manager and is responsible for providing customer support through the performance of on-site installations, diagnosis, troubleshooting, service, and repair of on-machine control systems. This individual should have a high mechanical aptitude.

This position will cover the Richmond, VA area and surrounding counties.

Working as a subject matter expert, the Field Technician is responsible for professional installation of Trimble 2D and 3D machine control systems and telematics hardware on Cat and non-Cat branded machines and the professional installation of Cat AccuGrade systems on Cat machines.

 

JOB DUTIES:

*Deliver quality technical assistance on time and ensure customer satisfaction

*Be the primary resource in providing on-machine installation, maintenance and on-machine training on construction heavy civil construction technology at the customer's site

*Ensure the operational quality of the system by documenting post-installation tests

*Provide on-site troubleshooting as requested by the sales and technical support organizations

*Provide high-level operator training to end-users

*Ensure that installation, training and other work necessary is completed on time

*Document and report field activities as well as being pro-active in creating process improvement

*Assist the SITECH Operations Team with tasks related to equipment shipping, receiving and handling

*Maintain and be accountable for inventory of all service parts and equipment by performing monthly inventory checks.

*Check the equipment and supplies required to perform the work scheduled, comply with PPE requirements, and otherwise prepare for duties.

*Apprentice role in machine control and bench repair. May perform repair both in the field and in the shop.

*Pre-Installation checkout of machine control systems prior to going to the field (complete electrical system, software and bill-of-materials compliance checkout).

*Uses computers for troubleshooting, upgrading proprietary manufacturer’s software, firmware and networks.

*Uses manuals, repair manuals, parts manuals, parts diagrams to troubleshoot Trimble and associated vendors' equipment.

*Uses hand & power tools to remove, install, replace, re-build, repair, & test parts/equipment on machine control technology equipment.

*Uses electronic test instruments and computers to reprogram equipment controllers.

*Uses tools to disassemble/reassemble parts or equipment; cleans parts with rags, cleaners, power washer; uses test equipment to make diagnostic checks; and uses powered equipment or tools to make repairs.

*Climbs up onto, under, & into vehicles to gain access to all parts of vehicle

*Physically moves items onto and/or off vehicle (control boxes, cables, sensors, receivers, masts, etc.) & then to move parts to locations for disassembly, repair, then back to the vehicle for reassembly.

 

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

*Must have an associate’s degree or equivalent experience. Experience in the construction or agriculture field is preferred.

*Work Experience: One plus year+ of work experience. Experience in construction and/or agriculture machinery where GPS and Laser guidance technology is preferred.

*Must be capable of learning guidance technology systems [i.e. GPS, Total Station Robotics, Computer Networks (e.g. CAN), etc.] for numerous model lines.

*Excellent verbal, written and problem-solving skills as well as a strong command of written and verbal English

*Bi-lingual, Spanish and English, is a plus

*Must have experience with computers, Microsoft Office Suite, Google Docs and other such applications

 

TESTING REQUIREMENTS:

*Applicants may be required to pass a written and/or oral examination before being considered for employment in this position

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

*Walking and moving about on foot often through uneven terrain.

*Handling: Ability to grasp and work with hands.

*Lifting: Raises or lowers miscellaneous equipment (up to 80 lbs.)
