Western North Carolina Adventures with Fluor-United

An invitation to Fluor-United’s Safety Week luncheon was the perfect excuse to get the SITECH Mid-Atlantic team back out on the road.

Bob Hendrick, Territory Sales Representative, Becky Huskins, Marketing & PR, and Kyle Myers, GPS Specialist, made a great trio of information for Fluor-United employees as well as other subcontractors and vendors.  As the technology source on the I-26 Project in Asheville, SITECH MA was proud to install, train and support the Trimble Earthworks technology used on the site.

Fluor-United made sure all of their employees and visitors walked away with a prize item and a great lunch.  The happy SITECH Mid-Atlantic prize-winner took home this awesome RTic Cooler.  Other prizes were provided by vendors such as 3M, United Rentals, Cintas, Caterpillar and more.

Jennifer, a Fluor-United employee, won the day with this awesome t-shirt expressing the sentiment of essential employees during the Pandemic.  The I-26 project, like many other road projects across the state, roared on throughout 2020 with great success.

Next stop on this Western NC tour was a new home construction site in Buncombe County.  At this height above the Appalachian tree-line, this base station was reading 24 satellites.  Not bad at all!  Kyle gives the rover and data collector some attention across several data points on the site.

The vistas from this exclusive Asheville neighborhood create a spectacular view of the Appalachians.  On a day like this, it’s easy to see why they are nicknamed “The Blue Ridge” Mountains.

It was a little difficult for Becky and Kyle to leave such beautiful surroundings, but they managed to get back on the road with the official SITECH Mascot, Penny the Cow! There was even a bear cub siting near the job site!  Many thanks and congratulations to Fluor-United on their safety event and much envy to our customers and vendors in the Western part of the great state of North Carolina!

Neill Grading & Cloninger’s Move Dirt in Dallas

Neill Grading of Hickory is heading up the grading on a new industrial site on the Dallas-Cherryville Highway in Dallas, NC.  Over 1 million yards of dirt are set to be moved in this project. Cloninger’s Inc. of Bessemer City is providing subcontractor support on the site.

New roadway alignment on this busy 2-lane highway is in the works.  Dallas-Cherryville Highway runs by Gaston College and follows as far as the foothills of the NC mountain range.

Neill Grading’s JD750 is equipped with Trimble Earthworks sets up grade on the site.  The brilliance of Trimble products is that they are made to fit any machine from John Deere to Komatsu to Caterpillar.

Paver Installation in Lynchburg

Our guys recently installed a Trimble PCS900 paver system for customers, Boxley Materials Company based in Blue Ridge, VA.

The install, on a Caterpillar 1055AF machine, took place at the shop in Lynchburg, VA with SITECH technicians: Brian Araujo, Chris Lee and Ben Nann.

Trimble Total Station units, machine control components and other accessories can all work together to make your jobsite run even more quickly than before!

The Earthworks display shows a clear and easy picture of the site with cut and fills.  Operators love the large, bright display box.

If there’s anything hotter than South Carolina in July, it’s some new Trimble technology on a Cat machine!  Just ask the guys at Palmetto Corp!

Spectra Tools Small & Versatile

Sometimes a tool can have multiple uses.  United Foremen installers learned this fact recently when they used a Spectra LP51G on their job site in Charlotte.  The compact laser-pointing tool turned out to be the perfect solution for plumbing a column on site during concrete work.

This small but versatile Spectra Lasers tool can replace the plumb bob, square and level in the toolbox.  Its 5 beam pointer with green light works well indoors and out and is especially well-seen in red dirt.  These pointers are water, mud and shock-resistant and can even withstand 3 foot drop onto concrete.  Stop by one of our locations or call 1-800-443-7561 to pick up a LP51G today!

Scenes from Spring 2020

As the weather gets warm and dry, now is the time SITECH Mid-Atlantic service teams really shine!  Using proper CDC guidelines for safety, technicians have been installing, repairing and training our customers to get ready for a busy summer season out on the job site.
